Angel League

The Angel League t-ball/softball program provides a positive recreational opportunity for individuals with special needs ages 5 to 20 by modifying sports activities so that everyone gets a chance to play. Children and adolescents learn how to pitch, catch, run the bases, throw the ball, and play with a team of other children to the level of their ability. Each player is paired with high school “buddies” who volunteer through the Allen High School Key Club, Baseball and Softball teams, among others. Buddies help participants reach their goals and applaud their successes. Parents tell Kiwanis members how much their child loves playing in the Angel League and how much they look forward to each game. Buddies tell us about the bonds they build with each player and how much they improve during the season. At the end of each season, players are rewarded for their successes with a trophy handed out at the end of the season pizza, cake, and drinks banquet sponsored by our club.
